last mornings of spring

I've spent the last mornings of spring sitting outside. We've had the most wonderful spring this year, the temp staying in the eighties and below. Even had nights that were cool enough for a fire in the yard. My favorite thing is building a fire, tending it, watching the lightning bugs come up out of the grass, listening to the insects chirping, then waiting for the coyotes to start howling across the road.

Also...
We have a stray cat in the barn behind the house and recently discovered she has four kittens. We are trying to get them used to us, then hopefully get them all fixed and just let them stay there. Of course we would feed them. I've been reading about trap, neuter, release programs which sounds like the perfect solution. Fingers crossed that we are able to find one in our area.
Three white kittens just like their mother and one grey and white tabby. So sweet.

I'm still making stuff every morning. I work at least and hour every day. Paintings, doll house stuff, working in journals, my art room is getting full.

watching: Outlander on Netflix
reading: The Two Towers by Tolkien (again)
and
The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron
eating: cookie dough blasts from Sonic
wanting: to be skinny
needing: to eat healthy and move more
loving: making doll house stuff
wishing: I was at the happy bird work shop in St. Louis

color in the form of yarn

color in the form
of yarn
has kept me so busy
that painting
has been
slipped my mind
maybe it's color that inspires me
more than ideas
idk
but I am loving
adding the next row
on top of colors
I would never
pick on my own
but I love anyway
and the surprise I feel
when they look
perfectly
matched
hopefully I will be
less afraid
when I start back to
painting

also I'm looking forward
to fall
I cleaned up
my fire pit
and built a couple of fires
it was actually cool
last night
perfect for sitting
and talking
and laughing
and stoking
and just enjoying
the flames
and the warmth

funny how
the last of my zinnias
are as colorful
as my yarn

loving
spiders and their webs
reading harry potter slowly
coffee on cooler mornings
mushrooms popping up like magic
watching whole seasons on Netflix
drives in the white car
and
making plans and lists
for things to come

imperfectly

I spent a lot of
my off time
outside
the weather was wonderful
no humidity
is a good thing
though my dogs have
been concerned about it

I'm still working on my little mermaid
painting
and getting more and more
behind on my weekly
classes
I try to fit them in
like the journal pages above
it's so nice to just
write, draw and paint
imperfectly

loving
coffee outside
building fires
 cicadas singing in the trees
creating with the kids at work
checking things off my to do list
long drives in the white car
Gilmore Girls
reading

all the flowers

oh this morning!
cool and dry
feels so wonderful
and last night was too
so we built a little fire
and listened to the birds
settle in
then the frogs and the
lightning bugs
start up
sigh...
I really wish
I could sleep out there
but I heard a motorcycle far away
and it reminded me of
a growling mountain lion
and I knew id never make it
 I feel like its real
so I go in

our lifebook class
last week has been so much fun
and I have learned a lot
about my why I'm drawn to certain types of art
we get to try our favorite artists style
and then write what we love about
it
it's funny how I don't realize
stuff like that until
I write it down

loving eating out at favorite places
and finding new favorites
crocheting wash rags
lifebook 2017 classes
doodles
and all the flowers
