making stuff every day

hello

i've gotten back to my routine this week
which feels really good. my art routine at least. but
it's been two weeks since i've walked! hopefully that can
start again by Monday.

the girl i painted is in my small art journal
and only took me around three hours. i made her using
tombow markers and prisma color pencils. then doodled around her with a white posca pen.
the tombow markers and water make the most amazing watercolors. i just love how they dry, making their own textures. so pretty.

i painted Virginia's new shelves and finished knitting
the tiny blanket for her bed. i'm still deciding whether the floor should be wood or checkerboard.

my art room hasn't changed much. though i have started
a tablecloth and I really like having a white surface to work on.

yesterday I finished the fourth season of outlander!
whoa they have one stressful life!
watching all of those back to back is tiring
with all the flinching i do lol.
i would've run back to the stones and the future
no matter how much i loved Jamie! whew!

loving: my peaceful non violent existence

waiting: to start a better man when i finish my current book

needing: a big glass of sweet tea

enjoying: the last days of summer

hello

looks as if i missed last month huh? i just got determined to finish painting my art room. i started it like two years ago! it was time. the reason i got back to it was i have been reading the dottie angel blog. i started at the beginning in 2007 and it's been so much fun! and so inspiring! because of her i have prettied up my laundry room and finished painting my art room. and i am so happy! now i am in the process of making it pretty, working clockwise around the room i will cover, paint, organize and hang stuff. and the good thing is i already own most of the stuff i need. i just found it all while moving things around. stashes of fabric, of buttons, of boxes, all kinds of cute stuff. i did get a fun garden fairy painting done, and work some on my tiny kitchen. got to spend some nice mornings outside at different places too. so i've just been busy, but now i'm back.

loving:  all the ideas in my head

wishing: I could make things faster

dreaming: of my finished art room

last mornings of spring

I've spent the last mornings of spring sitting outside. We've had the most wonderful spring this year, the temp staying in the eighties and below. Even had nights that were cool enough for a fire in the yard. My favorite thing is building a fire, tending it, watching the lightning bugs come up out of the grass, listening to the insects chirping, then waiting for the coyotes to start howling across the road.

Also...
We have a stray cat in the barn behind the house and recently discovered she has four kittens. We are trying to get them used to us, then hopefully get them all fixed and just let them stay there. Of course we would feed them. I've been reading about trap, neuter, release programs which sounds like the perfect solution. Fingers crossed that we are able to find one in our area.
Three white kittens just like their mother and one grey and white tabby. So sweet.

I'm still making stuff every morning. I work at least and hour every day. Paintings, doll house stuff, working in journals, my art room is getting full.

watching: Outlander on Netflix
reading: The Two Towers by Tolkien (again)
and
The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron
eating: cookie dough blasts from Sonic
wanting: to be skinny
needing: to eat healthy and move more
loving: making doll house stuff
wishing: I was at the happy bird work shop in St. Louis

glad to be alive

I've had quite a week!
excitement in the form of escaped cows
and a near death experience
five white cows escaped their pastures and were on
the highway
three police cars with lights going
a four wheeler and a man shaking
a feed sack trying to herd them
back home
I couldn't resist sitting out on my
porch to watch
finally the man with the feed sack
got them all to cross the road
and they headed my way
as the cows went past I sat very still
so I wouldn't spook them
I didn't think they would even notice me
but every white head turned and looked me right in the
eye as they passed
I won't forget the look on their faces
fear, threat, RUN!
and run they did!
the man with the feed sack apologized as he
walked by
little did he know he made my day

now for the other event
I was sitting at the table
finishing my lunch as I worked on my budget
I had it all worked out
and took a deep breath
as I did I sucked a little bit of food into my
windpipe
and thought "crap"
I started coughing of course
then noticed I could hardly breathe
ok now panic sets in
cause I'm alone
I cough, I run outside, I run back inside,
still choking I figure I better
grab my phone
and text my husband
I run back outside and cough really hard
the food shoots out of my mouth
thank goodness
so I call my husband who comes running from next door
and that was my near death experience
I swore I would never eat again
but I did

glad to be alive
i'm loving the goldfinch at my feeders, watching the hummingbirds
fight for their territory, making some progress on my art room, sleeping late, watching my seedlings grow, and Netflix.
