hello

 

 

i've gotten back to my routine this week

which feels really good. my art routine at least. but

it's been two weeks since i've walked! hopefully that can

start again by Monday.

 

the girl i painted is in my small art journal

and only took me around three hours. i made her using

tombow markers and prisma color pencils. then doodled around her with a white posca pen.

the tombow markers and water make the most amazing watercolors. i just love how they dry, making their own textures. so pretty.

 

i painted Virginia's new shelves and finished knitting

the tiny blanket for her bed. i'm still deciding whether the floor should be wood or checkerboard.

 

my art room hasn't changed much. though i have started

a tablecloth and I really like having a white surface to work on.

 

yesterday I finished the fourth season of outlander!

whoa they have one stressful life!

watching all of those back to back is tiring

with all the flinching i do lol.

i would've run back to the stones and the future

no matter how much i loved Jamie! whew!

hello again

 

this has been a really nice fourth of july week. i have been off work for four days in a row! not that i really mind going to work, my job is fun! but staying home is my favorite, and i've done a lot of it. i've spent long mornings outside reading and writing in my journals. listening to the birds and waiting for the sun to come over the trees.

 

 

i finished my journal painting at the first of the week, then moved onto building a tiny house for virginia. i want a doll house but not a huge heavy thing that i have to find a place for, so i had an idea to make one that was portable, foldable and light, easy to put away when needed. i'm always saving stuff that i might be able to use so i went through my stuff and decided on the cardboard backs of my drawing tablets. then i found my duck tape. i cut my longest piece of cardboard in half, one piece for the back wall and the other for the floor. then measured and cut out two side walls and duck taped them on each end. i was thrilled when it all folded up so nicely! and the floor tucks in perfectly! i had picked up some pretty papers last week for the floor covering and wallpaper so i tried it out and loved it. hopefully by next week i will have it all installed and a kitchen put together. then i have plans to build a fireplace, couch and kitchen table. I have always wanted to make a dollhouse and i am finally getting the courage to try no DO it.

 

okay I've made it into the second season of Outlander. and it was rough and it was confusing. claire was all of a sudden back to the future with frank, and after all that happened with that awful randall i couldn't stand to look at him. which isn't fair but it's the truth. the story of claire and jamie goes on. i had to start watching just one episode a day cause its a little overwhelming to me.

last mornings of spring

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I've spent the last mornings of spring sitting outside. We've had the most wonderful spring this year, the temp staying in the eighties and below. Even had nights that were cool enough for a fire in the yard. My favorite thing is building a fire, tending it, watching the lightning bugs come up out of the grass, listening to the insects chirping, then waiting for the coyotes to start howling across the road.

 

Also...

We have a stray cat in the barn behind the house and recently discovered she has four kittens. We are trying to get them used to us, then hopefully get them all fixed and just let them stay there. Of course we would feed them. I've been reading about trap, neuter, release programs which sounds like the perfect solution. Fingers crossed that we are able to find one in our area.

Three white kittens just like their mother and one grey and white tabby. So sweet.

 

I'm still making stuff every morning. I work at least and hour every day. Paintings, doll house stuff, working in journals, my art room is getting full.

I started out this week

making a paper mache

boat

I found the pattern on ann wood handmade

in her free patterns

I had everything I needed

so I just got started

I made the boat one morning

the sails the next

 the elven king took me most of the day

on sunday

he was made from

salley mavor's book

felt wee folk

I thought he looked better

with a blank face

so I just left it like that

I really love how it turned out

 

then I started the two girls

wanting to use the same colors on both

splitting  a butterfly

for each

 I had a totally different plan

for them

but as usual

they kinda don't listen

I liked the plainness of no

background

so I just stopped after the

finishing touches

and felt happy with them both

 

im gonna have to start

hanging my art

since it's taking up my working

space

 

I did get out some this week

since it was cooler

in the mornings
