i've been dying to knit.....
i knew i wanted to make these
yoga socks
cause i love socks with no toes
and gloves with no
fingers.
i picked out my yarn and it was all pretty and soft, and
went home to watch youtube videos for a
refresher course in knitting.
after watching i thought to myself " i can do this"
and i looked around and said "where's my yarn?"
i looked all around and started thinking i was crazy....
and then i saw HIM!

the state fair
want some taffy.
I also miss the smells, the food, the animals, the hay.....
I just wish
they still had the cranes
that i used to spend all my money on,
winning small worthless goodies.

recycled fountain
I saw an article in Family Fun magazine that showed
how to make a hand washing
station at your
campsite.
So i used it to make a fountain
So i used it to make a fountain
for my bird bath.
And it works.
So it's just an empty milk jug hung on a tree
with a nail hole in the front.
Fill it with water and it falls perfectly in the birdbath
making a nice little sound
inviting all the birds to cool off.

fever and a rash
My son is in the hospital. What started out as
a rash and fever
has turned into a week long stay.
At least the hospital
knows how to entertain kids.
He has a flat screen t.v. and xbox 360. The remote is the screen by his bed with
a selection of movies to watch, cameras to see
what's going on around
the hospital, internet access and more.
He has a menu that he can order anything on it between the
hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Not knowing what is wrong with him sucks.
I hope they figure it out soon.
And we can go home.

little fig tree
It came from my grandparents farm
originally and it's growing
slowly but surely.
I love the smell of the leaves when i disturb them.
Nothing is better than
eating figs
picked fresh from the tree.
Patience is a hard thing.

new projects
I went to Barnes&Noble and looked through some
magazines this weekend.
I found a few things i would really like to do
1.mason jars half way filled with sand, put a white candle in them to make lanterns, hang with wire.
2.make a large painting of cabbage roses for over my couch using the colors in the room.
3.use old chipped plates for a garden edging.
4.make a bird feeder out of a small milk carton, put a stick in the front for a perch, cover it with peanut butter then birdseed.
5.plant a pot of flowers to attract hummingbirds, then put up hummingbird feeder.
I think i will start with the bird feeders.

heart rocks
I was remembering things i like to do, and collecting heart-shaped rocks came
to mind.
When my kids were young and i took them to playgrounds, i would
spend my time looking for heart rocks.
I have quite a collection from large ones found in creek beds
to tiny ones found in pea gravel.
Just thinkin. . . .

history
While looking for pictures of my favorite candy i came across its history ,which i think i will share.
In 1928 , the defunct F. Hoffman and Company, of Chicago, one of the original
inventors of chocolate covered caramels was purchased by an entrepreneur
named Milton J. Holloway who had an idea
to create a round piece
of candy which was nothing more
than caramel enrobed with high quality chocolate.
Despite numerous tries and due to manufacturing limitations, it
was impossible to create a round candy
and thus all their tries produced nothing except
irregular shaped pieces called
"duds".
Despite best intentions , they were never able to produce their dream,
but they realized their product was delicious nonethelesss......
rewards?
I'm mowing the yard again, sigh. . . . But it's really hot today and i get really tired so
I'm pretending i'm on The Biggest Loser and i'm tryin not to give up.

backyard
I will be working in the backyard this weekend. There's lot's to do! Grass to mow, vines to cut back, little trees to remove , etc. These are one of those times that i wish i was a man and could be completely finished in a short period of time. Instead i have to work til i get tired then go back when i get rested.

So this morning i just took it easy.
Then went on picnik.com and made them cool.
That's also one of my favorite things
to do.

back to normal
I'm done. I worked for like 4 hours, but i worked for 45 minutes then a 15 minute break. And that includes getting stuff out and putting it all back up. I read during my breaks and drank lots of water. I just started the 2nd Fablehaven book and it's good!
It was a beautiful day. The wind was blowing and the sound was calming
blowing through the trees. I really couldn't have had a
better day.
the meadow
Today's the Day! Time to tackle my front yard , which is the meadow. My lawnmower belt fell off and i finally got around to asking my son to put it back on for me. My neighbor asked if i've been sick and a random family came by this morning to ask if i needed help with my lawn. oops. Sometimes i forget i live in a neighborhood that looks at my lawn everyday.
Well it's a wonderfully cool morning for yardwork. I have to run to Walmart for a few things and then i can start. oh dang i have to eat something first. And i want to take some pictures of it. See i'll be lucky if i get started by noon. And my hopes are high for a pretty yard. Would like to move my bird bath and put up some bird feeders. But for now just get it mowed. Then there is the back yard, sigh. . . . . .
